Welcome….back

Welcome...back

Today is the start of a new era at Raxco Software, with Bob Nolan returning to lead the company after a 10-month absence. But while it is a new start, there are a lot of familiar aspects to it also. We begin a new leg of our ongoing mission to deliver best-of-breed performance, virtualization and storage management solutions along with superior technical support and customer service to the enterprise, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and home and home office markets.

First, some background. Raxco has been in business for over 30 years. Back in the 1980s, it was the leading third-party vendor of system management software products for Digital Equipment Corporation’s OpenVMS operating system. Raxco expanded even more in the 1990s with a wide range of cross-platform security products that made it a leading security software firm. In the mid-90s, the security division of the company went public as Axent Technologies, which was subsequently acquired by Symantec for close to a billion dollars. At that time, Raxco began a transformation to a primarily Windows-based ISV, led by our flagship PerfectDisk product.

Throughout the 2000s, we have continued to enhance PerfectDisk and the family of products that provides performance and storage optimization for all Windows-based devices, including desktops, laptops, servers, Windows Home Server, and Exchange, as well as ground-breaking solutions for virtual environments such as VMware and Hyper-V. Over the years, these products have won numerous awards across a range of categories. And they also won over thousands of businesses, large and small, and millions of home consumers who came to realize that they could obtain similar benefits for their own computers as did large enterprises. Many of the world’s largest and most recognizable companies and government agencies rely on Raxco Software solutions.

While we have other consumer-based product offerings, our core strength has always been in the performance and storage arenas. Indeed, our consumer business grew as home users, including gamers, photographers, videographers and entrepreneurs realized they could speed up and extend the life of their computers with the various PerfectDisk home offerings.
Focus -- performance optimization, storage, virtualization

So, what’s to come? To start — a new virtualization solution that will improve upon our existing virtualization performance optimization. This will provide streamlined installation and deployment along with reduced footprint and overhead for 32- and 64-bit environments. This all ties together with PerfectDisk’s virtual awareness and exclusive OptiWrite, ensuring high performance of Hyper-V and VMware systems through intelligent real time I/O prioritization. We’re also working on enhancements to our virtual awareness technology. This includes new support for the latest VMware offerings and new virtualization providers.

A new version of PerfectDisk is in the works. We’ve been working closely with Microsoft and the Windows 8 team to ensure seamless compatibility. We are expanding our R&D efforts in the areas of performance, virtualization and storage, and plan to introduce new offerings in these areas.

For years Raxco has differentiated itself beyond our superior technology by providing the best technical support and customer service in the industry. To ensure this continues to be the case, we are bolstering our staff in this area and consolidating these functions at our headquarters in Maryland. We’ve built a reputation over the years, and we intend to keep that reputation intact.

Technical support and customer service excellence

The very best performance, virtualization and storage management solutions along with superior technical support and customer service for the enterprise, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and home and home office markets.

This is our focus.

Welcome to the new Raxco.

  1. SSDs are now comming out as the primary drive – Is the next version going to take them into account? They obviously should should be handled differntly

    1. Hi Frank,

Thanks for your comment. PD is already taking SSDs into account and handling them different from other drives. We are not defragmenting them, as that would be detrimental; we consolidate the free space for SSDs, thereby boosting write performance without interfering with the life of the SSD.

      Thanks, Joe
